The American Meterology Society's Glossary of Weather and Climate defines Tornado Alley as: "The area of the United States in which tornadoes are most frequent."
Tornado Alley -- the online community for alumni of Sulphur High School (Sulphur, Louisiana)... And "the area of the internet in which tornadoes are most frequent."... All alumni and current students are welcome to join this free community networking site.
Tornado Alley offers several community networking features comparable to other alumni sites that require paid subscriptions for access. The features of this website will allow alumni to connect with former classmates and old friends, share stories and personal news, and to keep up with news about our Alma Mater.
So... take some time to explore the site, register your information, and have fun reconnecting with fellow alumni!
This is very cool -- it's the same siren used at home games! Download it, burn it to CD, and PLAY IT LOUD!
UPDATE (12-10-06):
Put this siren on your phone as a ringtone and let all Golden Tornadoes hear your Tor Pride and school spirit!
Put the siren on your phones and play them loud at all SHS sporting events! :)
Here's how to do it: You must be able to access the web on your phone.
Go to this URL: toralley.com/siren/tornado.mp3 -- your phone should then ask you which folder you want the file to download into and then you can open it and play it on your phone. You should also be able to set it to be your ringtone. Enjoy!
On our way to the Superdome to watch our boys play in the State Finals, my brother showed us how he downloaded this .wav file on his smartphone! Some of us tried to download it to our phones, but unfortunately this .wav file won't work as a ringtone (my brother was using a smartphone with Windows Mobile).
Tonight I did a little searching online and I found this website where you can upload a .wav file and convert it into a file that can be used as a ringtone on your phone. You can scroll down the page (past all of the text ads) to see a master list of phones and the kinds of file formats that your phone will accept for ringtones.
However, if your phone will play .mp3 files as ringtones, you can download this .mp3 file that I converted using iTunes on my computer.
Fight Song
I have located an audio file of a version of a fight song that is similar to ours and you can access it here: http://toralley.com/siren/NotreDameVictoryMarch.mp3. However, I did find this online and it may not match our fight song exactly. If anyone has a digital recording of our fight song that you can email to me at
then I will post it here. Thanks!
For those of you wondering about the User Lists (available only to logged-in registered users), we are currently trying to complete the development process on the individual graduating class lists. It is a slow process because we are doing this in our spare time and each list -- which is basically a filter on the database -- has to be built from scratch. Click on "read more" to learn more about the current and future "User Lists"...
